What's the exercise that burns more calories?

One that skips your calories and keeps your heart happy, improving your cardiovascular system, and your lung capacity; and do you know what is even better? that you can mix it with dancing.

The effective calories’ burner

Today I want to tell you there is an exercise much more effective than running for burning calories, and I’ll give you some tips for increasing its benefits. The best part of all this, is that there are some dance rhythms that turns this exercise into a great method of training as you have fun, without losing its effects.

Here are some clues, so that you can guess what I’m talking about:

  • You did it several times when you were a child.
  • You can do it either with both feet or just with one foot
  • It can be done outdoors or indoors.

Did you guess it? that’s right: SKIPPING!

So, from now on, it’s time to skip your excuses, skip your laziness, skip your negativity, and mainly and literally skip your calories away! Your fat will be on fire 😉

Why should you skip instead of run? Who hasn’t seen someone running in the mornings, or those very famous promos nowadays about races and marathons, whether for healthy or social purposes?

What about weight-lifting to lose weight?

As you probably have heard, the more weight you lift, the more fat you burn; however the results are not the same in all people. Do you know why this happens? It is simple! Calories are not more than an energy measure and the weight is a gravity measure. So when you weight more, you need more energy for lifting the weight and moving your body. That is why a heavier person loses weight faster than a less heavy person, even doing the same weight-lifting workout. However, lifting weights helps building lean muscle mass and speed up the metabolism, even after the lifting workout is done; therefore, it is highly recommended to combine skipping exercises with weight-lifting workouts.

Tips to make skipping or jumping more effective to burn calories:

  1. Jump for 1 intense minute all the way, then rest for 30 seconds, and keep alternating these sets until completing 15 – 25 minutes. You will burn more calories alternating the speed, than jumping constantly at the same one.
  2. Do warm ups that include arms and legs’ stretching exercises before starting to jump.
  3. Make sure to keep your elbows near your torso while you are jumping.
  4. If it is possible, skip barefoot; just make sure you don’t have any knee issues. Otherwise a good pair of skipping shoes are recommended.

The perfect match to jumping exercises

Skipping a rope is an intense physical activity, that requires endurance and resistance. About 10 calories per minute can be lost when jumping rope, for an average-sized person; however due to the intensity and high impact involved, it needs to be combined with a healthy diet and other physical activities that can be less intense, more fun to do them and yet effective to burn some calories, like dancing! Yes, you heard me well, dancing is the perfect match to jump rope exercises. Have you thought that many people who consider dancing as a way of working out and maintaining a fitness lifestyle, is because they either don’t feel comfortable going to a gym or for some reason they are not pretty convinced about it? Well, combining jump rope with dancing and a healthy diet can help you achieve your weight goals!

They are many dance styles and rhythms in the world, so I’m positive you will find some interesting to you; perhaps Samba or Hip hop? These dance styles involve some kind of light jumps or bouncy movements that can be combined with your skipping routines!
