The burning man

An artistic and fun celebration where thousands of people get together to create art; this event takes place in the black rock desert in Nevada and it lasts 8 days between the last Sunday of August and the first Monday of September. It started in 1986 with about only 20 participants and now has grown to over 67,000 in the past few years. Part takers express themselves in all sorts of ways, and at the end of the festival, they burn all their artwork, proving that what humans do can be destroyed in a matter of minutes.

Harbin Ice & snow festival

Who doesn’t want to visit a real-life winter wonderland? well, this has become the largest snow and ice festival, where lots of participants create the most beautiful and gigantic ice sculptors that anyone has ever seen.

Chinese New Year

Speaking of Chinese festivals we have to mention Chinese New Year which is held in the new moon anytime between January 1st and February 20th. If you happen to be on the streets while this celebration is going on you will see flowers, huge dragons, fireworks, and performers. This celebration is so significant for them that they wear symbolic clothing and eccentric costumes. Check this video where one of our artists is performing one of those magnificent dances.

Oktoberfest

An annual big old party that takes place in Munich, Germany; it’s the largest beer festival and lasts around 17 days, from late September to the first week in October. It has been celebrated since 1810 and more than 6 million people attend this event every year. Millions of liters of beer is served, and you can also find fun games, live music, and amusement rides throughout the festival.

Mud Festival

As crazy as it sounds it came up from a South Korean cosmetics company, which happens to have products made out of mud, and as a way of promoting them, they invited a bunch of people to this festival, where they would find mud pools, mud jails, and mud skiing. How fun does that sound?

La Tomatina

Another massive event that involves people covered with things is La Tomatina, held in Buñol, Spain is considered the world’s largest food fight by many people around the world but for Spain is a significant part of their culture. It started in 1944, and no one really knows how this event originated. A possible theory includes a local food fight among friends, another one led us to think that someone attacked the city councilman with tomatoes during a town parade. Whatever happened to begin this tradition, it was so enjoyable that it has been repeated year after year. The holiday was banned during the government period under Francisco Franco for having no religious significance, but it came back in the 1970s after his death.

Holi

One beautiful celebration that everyone dreams to be part of is Holi, a Hindi spring festival full of colors, where people meet up to celebrate the arrival of spring, spreading vibrant paintings over each other. People use balloons and guns filled with colored powder to play around. There’s also music and dancing involved, great dances are performed, from Bollywood to African dances, they all are amazing and a great way to keep people cheerful. One of the many movements that people use for dancing, it’s called snake rolls and it is basically moving your arms and torso with an undulation.
