The world of Tik Tok

TikTok has been taking over the world for several years, anywhere you go there’s people recording tik tok trends or learning the moves of a new choreo. It could be silly and a waste of time for many people, a way to entertain themselves for some others and a source of income for the ones that happen to become viral when posting their videos.

There are tons of different opinions regarding this Chinese social media. For those that have been living under a rock and have no idea about what tik tok is, let me tell you that it’s a platform that allows users to create and share short videos, between 15 seconds to a minute long, from hilarious playback videos to super pro dance choreographies, there’s millions of topics you can find in there.

Originally released in 2016 as Musical.ly, TikTok has grown in popularity over the years. Thanks to COVID-19 forcing people to shelter and find entertainment at home, the use of TikTok has gone to another level. Trends can start from a single video and turn viral across the platform, whether it was a dance, a new comedy format, or a simple quote, discover with us the most popular tik tok trends of last year and maybe why not find inspiration to start growing your own page…

Creators are the heart of TikTok, making the platform so different from any others thanks to their creativity, imagination, and authenticity that inspires audiences around the world to express their passions, from cooking to dancing, there’s room for any kind of creator in this platform.

Social Awareness

Despites last year’s challenges, many creators have used their platforms wisely to spread awareness for social causes, being the voice of many disadvantaged communities and helping educate people about different points of view. 2020 was full of major cultural events, that’s why several passionate TikTokers used their popularity to raise each other up, fighting for positive changes in the US and around the world.

Celebs count too

In 2020 celebrities were also stuck at home during the global pandemic; and just like a lot of us, they got into the TikTok world to be entertained and to engage with their fans, showing us that they’re also humans and they get bored at home too. TikTok even released a list of the top celebs who created valuable content, just to mention a few: Jason Derulo, Kylie Jenner and Charlie Putt were included on that list.

Dancing goes further

Dance challenges in tik tok are the most popular ones, because who doesn’t enjoy watching a synchronized choreography with super cool music?. What is funny is that what we perceive as 30 seconds of content, can take up to days to achieve the final result for the creators, since it is a whole process, from learning the movements, to finding the perfect location to film and in addition why not, getting the right outfit. Check this dance video on our StepFlix YouTube channel that we’ll give you an idea of the hard work that it takes to be a content creator.

Anyone can be a tiktoker

And although tiktoks are not always going to turn out well, there is always the satisfaction of having fun behind the scenes and seeing the bloopers that yet some people may see them as a failure, it can be content that impacts and makes many other people laugh nonstop.

Tiktok is about enjoying it, it doesn’t matter how many followers you have or how many impressions you get, because probably the more genuine and spontaneous is your content the more fun you’ll have. So if you really want to try it but you’re worried about being exposed by lots of strangers or teased by all your friends just don’t think twice, have fun with it, and learn to laugh at yourself.
